Rachel's Bio

Graduation Year: 2008

I graduated from Tufts in 2008 with majors in International Relations & Spanish. At the moment I am helping my parents and my grandmother move (separately), and helping my dad recover from a recent knee replacement. In May, I'll be starting graduate school to become a nurse practitioner. I ran the NYC marathon last year & the NYC half-marathon this year. I'm also planning on running the Cape Cod half-marathon trilogy in 2012. I'm active in the Tufts Admissions Alumni Program - I interview prospective students and volunteer at college fairs. I live in Northern New Jersey, but plan on training partially in New York City. My favorite place to run is in Chatham, MA on Cape Cod.

Micro Donations

 Friends,

Once again I am embarking on a 26.2-mile journey except this time it's from Hopkinton to Boston. That's right! I'm running the 2012 Boston Marathon. Marathon Monday is April 16th this year.

This time I need to raise $5,000 for Tufts University nutrition, medical and fitness programs. Running the marathon is a some-what new tradition at Tufts started by Former President Larry Bacow. You can read more about it here: http://www.boston.com/news/globe/education/articles/2005/04/24/tufts_president_leads_the_way_with_marathon_tradition/

I'm trying to get micro-donations from as many people as possible: ideally I'm looking for 500 people to donate $10.

One of my friends says you should think of it as buying me a drink. Although, we all know what would happen if I were to consume 500 drinks.... okay I wouldn't make it past five.... errr I mean two is my max.

So, please, buy me a hard cider (or something else gluten free) or 1.5 issues of the Economist or four rides on the subway or half an entrance ticket to MoMA - all of which are approximate $10.

Donations can be made through my fundraising page http://www.tuftsmarathonchallenge.com/runners/rachelgeylin. Obviously you are welcome to donate more than $10 if you work in I-banking or something like that, and you are definitely welcome to tell friends!

Thanks in advance and see you at the finish line!
Rachel
